Brother and sister Tom and Catherine Kenyon's Vermont family history dates back to the 1770s, when their ancestors were dairy farmers. Nitty Gritty Grains grew out of a local baker's dream of making an all-Vermont loaf. Tom and Catherine set out to learn everything they could about cultivating wheat, a crop that hadn’t been grown in the state for years. The first two crops failed, but then luck turned in their favor. Today, Nitty Gritty Grain's organic flour and corn meal are widely known as some of the best in the business.
